Press Release October 25, 2011 - Dallas appoints No-Kill Task Force to develop plan for ending euthanasia of homeless animals Dallas has officially joined the ranks of cities and towns across the country that have taken on the challenge of ultimately becoming “no kill,” with the goal of ending the killing of homeless dogs and cats. Our Purpose We are here to show that Dallas cares about animals. Anyone can be a responsible pet owner, thanks to the many wonderful resources available in our city. By sharing this information and promoting the special human-animal bond, we want to encourage compassion toward animals and responsible pet ownership. Who We Are We are an advisory committee of concerned citizens and City of Dallas employees who want to focus on the positive aspects of the City of Dallas and Dallas Animal Services by promoting education and awareness of responsible pet ownership to all residents.
Dallas Loves Animals is a “pet project” of Councilmember Delia Jasso. Spokesdog Grace, who was rescued from a hoarder, agreed to help kick off the campaign.
